Tasting: Angry Orchard Rosé

Image
Name: Angry Orchard Rosé Variety: Red flesh apples from France Region: Walden, NY Country: USA Year: 2018 Price: $5.50 Wine Review:  Angry Orchard Rose has a delicate floral aroma, is apple forward in taste and complimented by refreshingly light tannins, similar to a semi-dry wine. My Review: I remember from an earlier lecture video, you said that hard ciders are wine because they are fermented from an apple. So, when I saw this bottle I wanted to switch it up and switch from the grape to this. I was pleasantly surprised with how crisp and easy this was to drink. Honestly, the flavor did not remind me of Rosé wine but I thought it was really good. It was obviously sweet but had a great balance that made the sweet aspect tone down. I did not pair this with food and it definitely did not need it. I would definitely drink this again!

Tasting: 19 Crimes~2016 Red Wine

Image
Name: 19 Crimes: 2016 Red Wine Variety:  Shiraz ,  Cabernet Sauvignon  and  Grenache Region: Barossa Country: Australia Year: 2016 Price: $7 Wine Review:   Bright red to crimson hues. Intense lifted vanilla aromatics balancedwith ripe red to dark berry fruits. Full and round on the palate with a distinct sweetness giving a rich and round mouth feel. The vanilla aromatics carry through on the palate and compliment subtle flavors of chocolate and a cedary spice. The palate finishes soft and fruity with a pleasant lingering freshness. My Review: Like I have stated in some of my earlier blogs I am just getting into red wine and this red wine was a little too much for me. I did not pair it with food and the acidic taste I picked up just from smelling it was too extreme. I got through one glass and could not handle anymore. This flavor was just too much for me. It was evident that it had strong bold fruit flavors but that wasn't enough for me to really like it. However, obviousl

Tasting- Barefoot Pinot Grigio

Image
Name: Barefoot Pinot Grigio Variety: Pinot Grigio Region: Modesto, CA Country: USA Year: 2003 Price: $7 Wine Review:  Barefoot Pinot Grigio  is a light-bodied wine with a bright finish, perfect for the warm days of summer or enjoyed year-round. Tart green apple mixes it up with a white peach undertone. Floral blossoms and citrus aromas do the tango. My Review: This wine left a strong acidic taste in my mouth. It made my tongue water but sadly I did not have any food to pair it with. I think if I had had something to eat with this it would have subsided the strong acid flavor and brought out the floral flavors even more. Even though it tasted acidic to me this wine was extremely smooth and easy to drink. I would definitely categorize this wine as having a good flavor but I would label it a food wine.

Tasting- Barefoot Sweet Red Blend

Image
Name: Barefoot Sweet Red Blend Variety:  Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Barbera, Grenache and Petite Sirah. Region: Modesto, California Country: USA Year: 2017 Price: $7 Wine Review:  This wine is ripe and jammy with explosive flavors of raspberry, plum and cherry for a soft and smooth finish. My Review: I thought that this wine had a good balance of flavors. I drank this bottle between two days. The first day it was chilled and the second day it was at room temperature. I found that I liked the flavors better chilled but I thought I was actually able to distinguish flavors better when it was warm. When I tried it warm, I deeply tasted plum. I paired it with pizza the second day but found that it did not really bring out any new flavors in the wine or the pizza. If I drink this again, I will most likely pair it either with a spicy pizza or another spicy food!

Tasting- Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio

Image
Name: Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio  Variety: Pinot Grigio Region: Yenda Country: Australia Year: 2017 Price: $7 Wine review:  A rather obvious but likable wine, this has heady aromas of ripe peaches and pears, apple skins and flowers. The palate shows a little residual sugar but overall it's a mostly dry style with a slightly waxy texture. Knock this back with Chinese egg rolls and lo mein. My review: After trying the Yellow Tail Moscato and loving it, I wanted to try the same company but try a different grape variety which is why I chose this wine. I have to say that I did not like this one as much as moscato but I want to redo this experiment and try it with a different brand. To me, this wine was completely different than what I was used to. It had a high viscosity, which I know is not important when determining flavor, but I thought worthwhile to mention because I felt as if this was the first wine I had where this was very evident from the start. I did not pick up

Tasting- Yellow Tail Moscato

Image
Name: Yellow Tail Moscato Variety: Moscato Region: Yenda Country: Australia Year: no age on bottle Price: $7 Wine Review:  A quick note on the Moscato: While this wasn't my favorite, this is probably a good option to consider if you're into lighter, sweeter wines. Golden raisin flavors came through both on the nose and palate, joined by hints of apple. This bottle was light and refreshing with a mellow fizz (didn't last as long as say, Champagne bubbles, but as the bottles states, they're going for a "lil' fizzy"). And with the alcohol clocking in at a mere 7.5%, perhaps this would be a good choice as a session wine (I don't think there's as much of a concept around "session wine" as there is  session beer , but maybe there should be, so I'm planting the seeds now). My review: I really liked this wine. I picked up this bottle to watch during the first OU football game and I drank nearly the entire bottle. I did not have any
