Tasting- Yellow Tail Big Bold Red

Image
Name: Yellow Tail: Big Bold Red Variety: Merlot, Shiraz/Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon Region: Yenda, Australia Country: Australia Year: Couldn't find a year on the bottle Price: $10 Wine Review:  This full-bodied red wine offers flavours of fleshy ripe raspberries and strawberries, along with notes of chocolate, mocha and espresso from toasty oak aging. Pair this wine with hearty meat dishes, including meat lovers' pizza. My Review: This wine had a very high tannic composition for me. It was an intense flavor of fruits with luscious full flavor. This was not as easy to drink for me because of the dryness but I think the wine was well balanced with fruit flavor, alcohol, and the tannins. *did not pair with food

Tasting- Barefoot Refresh Rosé Spritzer

Image
Name: Barefoot Refresh Rosé Spritzer Variety: Grenache and Moscato Region: Modesto, CA Country: USA Year: 2018 Price: $10 Winery Review:  Offering a refreshing medley of juicy peaches and zesty mandarins, Barefoot Rosé Spritzer is a burst of delicious, fruity flavor. Hints of sweet raspberries and red cherries, our Rosé pairs perfectly with cold pasta dishes, fruit salad, and the very best of backyard barbecues. My Review: I surprisingly really liked this wine. My first response to it was that it smelled and tasted fruity and after further review I thought it tasted like strawberry. I was worried that it would be too sweet but the sparkling aspect balanced out the sweetness for me. I think the acid was higher in this wine but was balanced out by the sugar and alcohol. *ate with salty chips and I like the salty with sweet flavor

Tasting-Sutter Home White Zinfandel Wine

Image
Name: Sutter Home White Zinfandel Wine Variety: White Zinfandel Region: St. Helena, California Country: USA Year: 2016 Price: $10 Winery Review:   Delicate aromas lead to sweet, creamy strawberry and melon flavors and a crisp finish. We enjoy pairing White Zinfandel with spicy food. White Zinfandel will compliment anything Asian or Latin so invite some friends over for a fiery fajita bar and hand them a glass of well-chilled Sutter Home White Zinfandel. The sweetness of the wine will put out any four-alarm fires! My Review: This wine was good to me but it was extremely sweet. I tasted a strong acidic flavor which I am assuming came from the fruit flavors. I can understand why it would pair well with spicy food because it would bring down a lot of the sweetness. I was struggling to drink more than one glass because of this sweet factor. I bought this wine for a friends going away party because this is one of her favorites. I did not hate it but I would not buy this bottle

First Wine Blog

I do not really have that much experience with wine. I have never been a huge fan of the taste of any kind of red wine but I have recently begun to like white wine and other fruity wines. A lot of my friends really like wine so we will have girl wine nights but I just have them tell me what to buy because if I had to pick it out I would not even know where to start. I am extremely excited for this course because I want to learn the ins and outs of wine. I want to learn learn everything about it like how it is made to the differences between the various assortments of wine. I am very excited to be pointed in directions of new wines to try because when I go into a store it can be extremely overwhelming on what I should buy so I would most likely settle for whatever is cheapest. I want to be able to have educated conversations and truly appreciate the taste of wine. I want to be able to pick out different flavors and understand the processes that make each type of wine unique. I do not
